El concurso, organizado por la Alcaldía Metropolitana de Caracas y la fundación ECOCARACAS, consistió en integrar el Centro Simón Díaz, ubicado en calle la Florencia de Mariches, con las comunidades que lo rodean, a fin de mejorar y multiplicar las formas de acceso a sus instalaciones, generando espacios públicos de calidad.
La idea del proyecto es la de crear espacios productivos con un mínimo de impacto físico. Para ello se proponen los Senderos Urbanos, los cuales consisten en caminerías dotadas de infraestructura básica que comunican la comunidad de Petare con el Centro Simón Díaz, acompañados de un sistema de espacios públicos. El programa consta de anfiteatros, talleres de construcción, carpintería, pintura, costura y de papagayos, un salsódromo, un centro de reciclaje, un ambulatorio y cultivos agrícolas, entre otros. El sistema propone un plan general a ser desarrollado y definido por la comunidad.
The competition, organized by the Metropolitan Town Hall of Caracas and the ECOCARACAS foundation, consisted of integrating the Simón Diaz Center, located in Florencia de Mariches Street, with the surrounding communities in order to improve and multiply the foot trails to access its facilities while generating quality public spaces.
The idea of the project is one that creates productive spaces while minimizing the physical impact. To achieve this goal the proposal is to use Urban Footpaths, which consist of foot trails equipped with basic infrastructure to communicate the community of Petare with the Simón Diaz Center and a system of public spaces. The program consists of amphitheatres, several workshops for construction, carpentry, painting, sewing and kite-making, a salsódromo, a recycling center, an ambulatory and an agricultural farm, among others. The system proposes a general plan to be jointly defined and developed by the community.
